About Us

Our Story
The AMPS Club is a private, not-for-profit, organization with the primary purpose of promoting the Radio Control phase of aeromodelling in Miami-Dade County, and to aid the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) in its objective of advancing model aviation.
The AMPS Club originated in 1959 and has been active since. The current flying field was inaugurated in 1993 and it is currently considered one of the finest flying fields in South Florida. It has two highly manicured grass runways; one running East/West and the other running North/South. Runways are suitable for all size models, from small foam planes to large scale turbines, as well as helicopters. Large, covered pit areas offer the pilot a safe and secure environment.
If you are a beginner, we have several certified club instructors to choose from. Each has extensive experience working with new pilots and can make your transition to solo pilot as easy as possible. If you are an old hand at R/C flying, then come join us and enjoy the camaraderie of our members and our fine facilities. As a member of AMPS, flying instruction is FREE!
Although flying is limited to AMPS members, anyone can visit and enjoy the beauty of model aviation. Come in for a day of safe family-oriented fun at South Florida’s Premiere R/C Club.
We look forward to getting to know you!
