| Press Release: AMPS is creating a Tail
Memorial Monument. Next time you are in the main
shelter, look up and you will see several model airplane
tails attached to the beams. We have started a campaign
to create a Tail Memorial Monument and rescue from the
trash pile any and all model airplane tails that have
survived the devastating destruction of uncontrolled
landings.
Many of us have experienced the sadness of finally
finding our models' expiration date. In many cases, the
tail section is the only "surviving" part of the
airplane and as such it should be preserved for
posterity and as a tribute to the many unselfish hours
of satisfaction given by the model.
Should you find yourself in a position to make a
donation to this magnificent cause, here are some
guidelines that MUST be adhered to in order for a tail
to be accepted into the memorial:
- The horizontal and vertical stabs, rudder, and
elevator must be intact
- Covering or paint in good shape
- Flat-cut just ahead of the horizontal or
vertical stabs (which ever is further forward)
- Piece of plywood glued to the cut (see previous
note) with small tabs protruding
- Screwed into the beam with small screws
- No size limitations, please make sure attachment
is strong enough to support weight.
Any tails that do not meet these minimum requirements
will be removed. If you prefer to make an anonymous
donation, you may leave the tails in the shelter or
contact the
webmaster for retrieval.
Please do not leave your airplane carcass in the
shelter. Sanctions will be imposed on anyone using the
memorial as an excuse not to take away the remains of a
deceased airplane. Only tails will be accepted into the
memorial. |
